About the job/role
We are looking to add a Senior Software Engineer to our growing Engineering Team as part of WildBrain’s Data & Technology Group with a primary focus on creating world-class content and metadata management, distribution, analytics and insight products and services that are grounded in the needs, wants and behaviour of our customers.

We are a multi-disciplined group covering Software Engineering, Product Ownership, Data Science (using AI and ML) along with Analytics and Insights. Our technology stack contains PHP, Node, Python and React. We mostly use AWS along with GCP and are exploring other cloud service offerings such as Azure. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in JavaScript and ReactJS and previous experience of the core principles, dataflows such as Flux or Redux and isomorphic ReactJS components.

Responsibilities
  • Exploring, Investigating, Developing, Enhancing, and sometimes Decommissioning a range of in-house built software systems and services that create, operate, report on, support and manage our entire AVOD platform and related content library.
  • Working with our Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, Customers, Users, and others to explore requirements, test ideas and design new, bespoke solutions.
  • Meeting with the development team to discuss user interface ideas and applications.
  • Reviewing application requirements and interface designs.
  • Identifying web-based user interactions.
  • Developing and implementing highly responsive user interface components using react concepts.
  • Writing application interface codes using JavaScript following react.js workflows.
  • Troubleshooting interface software and debugging application codes.
  • Developing and implementing front-end architecture to support user interface concepts.
  • Monitoring and improving front-end performance.
  • Documenting application changes and developing updates.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Hands-on commercial Javascript development experience
  • A thorough understanding of ReactJS, it’s core principles, dataflows such as Flux or Redux and experience with isomorphic ReactJS components
  • Experience with designing fault-tolerant scalable systems that make use of native cloud capabilities.
  • Experience of working in an agile environment and understand OKR’s, MVP’s and KPI’s.
  • An appreciation that writing tests is just as important as writing code so we can fearlessly work together.
  • An understanding that even small changes can make a big impact.
  • A good understanding of commercial software engineering in rapidly changing environments.
  • A good understanding of transforming technology solutions for an ever-changing world.
  • An eye for understanding how changes and updates affect our consumers
  • A mentor for other team members and knowledge sharing
  • A good understanding of using SQL and NoSQL databases along with data lakes.
  • Strong skills in developing software, using modern frameworks, software patterns for both UX/UI, server-side and integration such as exposure to SOA/ESP along with JSON and RESTful API’s.
